Iron River and the surrounding communities are located in Bayfield County and have a population of over 3,700. The area is in a rural setting consisting of agricultural, recreational, logging and small businesses and is served by Drummond Area Schools #1491, School District of Maple (which includes the Iron River Elementary School), and South Shore School District. Iron River has a Community Center with a capacity of 400 people and is available for concerts, speakers, or other special events. Churches include Lutheran, Catholic, Presbyterian, and Baptist. The Iron River Area is the hub of Bayfield County's snowmobile paradise on the Tri-County Corridor.
